Salem High School and Career and Technical Education Center

Salem School District
Salem, NH

The Salem High School and Technical Education Center had been nearly untouched for over 50 years. A 260,000 sf renovation along with a 110,000 sf addition brought the facility and learning environments forward to 21st century teaching and learning. Traditional high school areas include classrooms, state-of-the-art auditorium, food service, and offices. The technical education center includes automotive technology, biomedical science, business, carpentry, computer science and technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, graphic design, engineering, health science technology, marketing and sales, teacher preparation, and television and media production. The project also supports extracurricular programs including art and music, AFJROTC, journalism, drama, debate, and athletics.

All existing MEP/FP systems were replaced throughout the renovation. Project construction was executed over six concurrent phases, with continuous school operations throughout. RFS’s MEP/FP designs included provisions to enable the phasing, including thermal energy and electric power head-end systems, and life safety systems – fire protection, fire alarm, and emergency and egress lighting.
