Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics

University of New Hampshire
Durham, NH

UNH’s Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics serves undergraduate and graduate programs for Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Hospitality Management, and Marketing disciplines. The 120,000 sf building includes 16 technology-enhanced classrooms, 25 high-tech group study rooms, a 200-seat lecture hall, career services, and faculty offices, all organized around a two-story great hall/collaboration space. Hospitality management spaces are also provided, including food preparation, wine storage, and private dining.

This LEED Gold Certified building receives its heating thermal energy via renewable methane gas recovered from a regional landfill. An adsorption chiller provides air conditioning chilled water, using waste steam from on-campus electricity generation. Mechanical penthouses were creatively integrated with the building massing, to enable no roof-exposed equipment without substantially increasing construction cost. Displacement ventilation provides thermal and acoustic performance for the lecture hall. LED lighting systems are coupled with daylight harvesting and artificial light dimming for the great hall and other spaces. A bioswale integrated with the project landscape receives roof rainwater, enabling on-site retention.
