Falls Music Center

Phillips Academy Andover
Andover, MA

The Falls Music Center at Phillips Academy will be the school’s first purpose-built venue for music education and performance. The 30,000 sf building will include flexible ensemble spaces for rehearsals and performances, versatile classrooms, tech cutting-edge recording studio, percussion studio, modern music storage library, technology labs, and faculty offices.

Designed as a zero on-site carbon project, the building will be decoupled from the central campus steam grid and instead will derive thermal energy utilizing 32 vertical-bore geothermal wells. Low velocity HVAC air distribution and strategic use of displacement ventilation are utilized to meet stringent acoustical requirements. Building lighting control systems enable lighting systems to serve the wide range of facility uses, while considering ease of lighting system operations.
